Lube & Oil Flushing

WORK SCOPE : LUBE & HOT OIL FLUSHING

Objective

Cleanliness of systems is paramount prior to production and certification of cleanliness is essential during the construction/commissioning phase of any project. Typical system such as turbine lube oil, control lines BOP, wellhead control umbilical, hydraulic control lines tubing and piping system also required similar flushing and cleanliness certification as well.

GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR THE LUBE OIL FLUSHING GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR THE LUBE OIL FLUSHING

FST owned oil flushing units to desired range of oil reservoir capacity, pump output pressure and delivery suitable for various dimensions, configurations, and viscosity and oil types. We also provides relevant analytical tools such as microscopic and computerized particle counters.to determine the completion of flushing process.

Verification of cleanliness to standards – ISO 4406 or Nas 1638.(NAS 6)

Oil flushing is intended to accomplish the removal of foreign particles within the system.

System shall be flushed at a flow rate and temperature so that a minimum Reynolds number of 4000 is achieved through each section.

The Reynolds number can be calculated by: 3160 x pump flow rate in GPM / viscosity of flushing oil x pipe diameter in inches.

Samples should be collected at the return lines and the oil contamination level should be tested once every hour of flushing to monitor the progress of the flushed.

The circuit shall consist a double gear pump (600 l/min, max 50 bar), a stainless steel oil reservoir (800 L), flow meters, temporary hydraulic hoses, discharge filters (3 micron absolute filtration) and return filters (5 micron absolute filtration
